In observance of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Unum has partnered with the non-profit organization 9/11 Day to help transform the anniversary of this date into a worldwide day of unity and generosity. This is a tribute to those who were killed and injured in the terrorist attacks, and to the many rescue and recovery workers and members of our military who bravely rose in service in response.
9/11 Day’s goal is to inspire Americans and others to perform 20 million good deeds in remembrance of the 20th anniversary of September 11. To do this, they are organizing virtual and in-person volunteer projects, delivering tens of thousands of meals to people in need, supporting our first responders and military community, and staging other major commemorative events.
This year, Unum is helping 9/11 Day achieve this goal by partnering with the organization to provide more than 800 meals from local restaurants to first responders and military veterans in the Washington, D.C., area. Additionally, the company is encouraging its employees to participate in 9/11 Day’s “Take a Moment” campaign, which invites people to take a moment on September 11 to do a good deed.
These acts embody the company’s caring spirit and Corporate Social Responsibility strategy of building strong and sustainable communities.
