Recruiting and investing in top talent includes those new to the workforce. Today, we celebrate their voice to help us be recognized as one of the 2021 Best Employers for New Graduates by Forbes.

“We post up to 1,000 entry-level positions each year,” said Kimberly Bowen, vice president of Global Talent Management. “Recent college graduates make a significant impact to our business success, and I’m proud that we offer competitive programs, benefits and resources to help them succeed.”

Jonathon Polcari started his career as a Unum Scholar while he attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He then transitioned into a full-time position as an Accounting and Finance Development Associate after graduation.

For Erica Mijon, an enrollment communications specialist in Columbia, Unum’s response to the events of 2020 continue to make a positive impact to her transition to a full-time role after graduating from the University of South Carolina. “I really appreciate Unum’s response to COVID-19 and the need for social justice reform. In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, Unum recognized the need for hard conversations and diversity across the business.”

The Best Employers for New Graduates list was put together based on a independent survey of over 20,000 U.S. young professionals who were asked about safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts and company image. They were also asked respondents how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others, and to nominate organizations outside of their own. The final list includes 250 companies that received the most recognitions. Unum ranked at 79.
